Referral Agreements

Pivotal Law Group represents many clients on the basis of association with other attorneys throughout the state of Washington. We take pride in the fact that many attorneys and law firms have the confidence in us to refer cases or to ask us to associate with them in representing their clients. In most cases we are willing to perform an initial preliminary review to evaluate potential claims without cost or obligation to the referring attorney.

Lead Attorney Arrangements

When a case is referred to us and a decision is made to take the case, we serve as lead counsel. We believe a well-defined division of responsibilities leads to quality representation. We inform associated counsel about case developments and welcome their input.

As lead counsel, we handle court filings, discovery, and settlement discussions. We welcome participation from referring attorneys and often involve them in settlement discussions, mediations, or trial. Referring attorneys from outside Seattle often assist in responding to discovery and help with local matters.

Fee Agreements

All agreements relating to a division of fees are governed by the Washington State Code of Professional Responsibility. In proposing a fee arrangement, we consider such factors as the nature and complexity of the case, potential damages, work already completed by the associating attorney, and the likely costs to be advanced. We strive to be open and fair in discussions about the division of fees.
