Melissa R. Macdonald joined Pivotal Law Group (formerly Larson Hart & Shepherd) in December 2007 as a litigation paralegal. She has over 9 years of experience of legal training and litigation practice.
In 2007, Melissa Macdonald brought a well-rounded background to Pivotal Law Group (formerly Larson Hart & Shepherd). After spending years working in many areas of the real estate arena - including appraisals, escrow, and mortgages - Melissa decided to take her experience into the legal field. Once there, she learned about the dynamic inner workings of a law firm and deepened her knowledge of case law and research in such practice areas as commercial and business, real estate, personal injury, medical malpractice, mold/construction defects, and class-action lawsuits.
At Pivotal Law Group, Melissa focuses on litigation, assisting Christopher Thayer in his practices. As a paralegal, Melissa toes the first line of defense for both the attorney and the client. She enjoys guiding clients through the court process, which can be frustrating and confusing for those who have not been through litigation before. Melissa finds satisfaction in being part of a litigation team that combines a deep knowledge of the law with caring for the individual needs of clients. “Not only is each case different in terms of facts and the law, but each client is also unique, with individual needs, fears, and concerns regarding their case. Part of my role is to anticipate and help fulfill those needs.”
Melissa graduated magna cum laude from Washington State University with a B.A. in social sciences in 2008. She is a member of the Washington State Paralegal Association and the support staff section of the Washington State Association for Justice.
